We are booking a hotel in Dickwella. Is the bay calm enough for a one year old.

Yes Dickwella is widely considered one of the safest beaches for infants and toddlers on the entire south coast. The massive bay is naturally protected by offshore sandbars and reefs which heavily break the ocean swells.

The water near the shoreline is exceptionally calm very warm and remains ankle deep for a very long distance out. You can sit in the water with your baby completely safely without worrying about sudden drops or strong rip currents.
