Liptons Seat offers a completely different experience than Ella Rock. It is much higher and is surrounded entirely by manicured tea plantations rather than wild jungle, giving it a very manicured, historical feel.
You do not have to hike the whole way up Liptons Seat if you do not want to. You can take a tuk tuk to the very top, whereas Ella Rock requires a mandatory two hour physical hike to reach the viewpoint.

People outside stations offer to "help" buy tickets but charge large markups. They may buy cheap third-class tickets and sell as more expensive classes.
