Is the Ambuluwawa Tower climb safe for people with mild vertigo
We are visiting Kandy and want to do a day trip to the Ambuluwawa Tower in Gampola. The spiral staircase looks terrifying online. Is it actually safe if you have mild vertigo.

It is structurally safe, but it is not recommended for anyone with vertigo. The spiral staircase gets extremely narrow at the top, to the point where you have to press yourself against the wall to let others pass. The railing is waist high, but the sheer drop visually is very intense.
I have mild vertigo and I stopped halfway up. Even from the middle sections, the panoramic views of the central highlands are spectacular, so it is still worth the trip even if you do not summit.

TukTuk or tour drivers take you to "gem museums" or "government-certified" gem shops. They receive huge commissions (up to 40%) on anything you buy. Prices are inflated 3-10x the actual value.
Men approach tourists near Temple of the Tooth offering to be guides. After the tour, they demand large "donations" or guide fees (5000-10000 LKR).
