The Kandy National Museum is located directly behind the Temple of the Tooth, housed within the beautiful former royal palace building. The entrance fee is extremely cheap, and it is definitely worth a quick visit.

While it is much smaller than the museum in Colombo, it houses a fascinating, highly specific collection of Kandyan era artifacts, including the weapons, jewelry, and clothing used by the last kings of Sri Lanka before the British took over.

It perfectly complements your visit to the main temple by providing deep historical context about the royal families who actively protected the sacred tooth relic.
