Is it safe to visit the Temple of the Tooth during the 630 PM drumming ceremony, or is it too crowded for tourists.

It is incredibly safe in terms of crime, but physically it can be overwhelming. The crowd pushes forward to see the relic casket, and it gets very hot and loud. Keep your wallet in your front pocket just in case, but generally, it is a deeply spiritual and safe experience. Just go with the flow of the crowd.

I found the morning ceremony at 5:30 AM to be much more peaceful and less chaotic.

Make sure your shoulders and knees are fully covered, otherwise security will not even let you through the main gate.
