My driver suggested a boat tour on the Madu River. Is it an authentic nature experience, or a tourist trap?

It is heavily tourist-focused, but still beautiful. You will boat through stunning mangrove tunnels. However, the boat will stop at "islands" trying to sell you cinnamon and fish pedicures. If you just want nature, tell the boatman "No shopping stops, just mangroves and birds" before you get in.

The fish therapy stop is quite fun if you have kids, but otherwise, the highlight is definitely the mangrove tunnels. It takes about 1.5 hours total.
