Is Unawatuna beach safe for a three year old.

Yes Unawatuna is generally highly suitable for toddlers specifically the extreme western corner of the bay. The shape of the cove heavily protects that side from large ocean swells.
The water there is usually perfectly flat creating a gentle sloping sandy entry that is incredibly safe for three year olds to splash in comfortably.
However the beach itself is highly commercialized and packed with sunbeds and jet skis. You must be vigilant to ensure your toddler does not wander into the path of small boats pulling up to the sand.

Someone befriends you and offers a "once in a lifetime" opportunity to buy gems at wholesale prices and resell them abroad for huge profit. They may show you fake export certificates. The gems are worthless glass or low-quality stones.
Restaurants without visible prices. Bill arrives with inflated charges (500 LKR coconut becomes 1500 LKR). "Service charges" added without disclosure.
