Is whale watching in Trincomalee better than Mirissa?

Trincomalee is absolutely phenomenal for whale watching specifically during the European summer months from May to September. While Mirissa is battered by rough monsoon seas the ocean off the east coast is incredibly glassy perfectly flat and spectacularly calm making it infinitely easier to spot the majestic blue whales surfacing safely from a distance.
