Starving, lake places look shut, guy with a glass case of fish buns and something fried was doing a brisk trade next to us. Ate two. Still standing. Is Perahera-night cart food the usual "watch it fried" rule or is this how people spend Saturday in a hotel bathroom.

If it came out of hot oil in front of you, you are in the normal Sri Lankan street-food risk band, not a special Perahera poison. The stupid ones tonight are cut fruit, ice, and anything sitting lukewarm in the case since 4pm. Fish bun from a busy cart is what half the city is eating. Carry water from a sealed bottle. If you get a rumble, ORS not antibiotics from a pavement seller.

We did the same last night. Fine. The coconut water from an unopened nut was the better call than the colourful drinks.

Crowd + heat + standing three hours is enough to upset a stomach without blaming the bun. Find a toilet pin on the police map before it becomes urgent.
