Yes, you are generally allowed to take photographs of the exhibits, but you absolutely must turn your camera flash completely off to prevent damaging the fragile historical fabrics and paints.

Always double check with the security guards near the entrance, as they sometimes require you to purchase a very cheap additional photography permit tag for your camera.
