Last police jeep just pulled off Dalada - are they packing up for the night or is that a shift change
9.51, Dalada Veediya. A jeep that had been sitting on the cone line just turned toward the Clock Tower with two uniforms in it. Street looks leftover plastic and husks. Are they done for the night or is this the 10pm shift and we are about to get shouted at for standing in the relic street.

One jeep leaving is a shift or a tea run, not a gazette that Dalada is a street again. If you can still see tape, a cone, or a man on a plastic chair, it is not packed up. Walk inland. Do not follow the jeep like it is a lead car.
Season plan has tourist assistance and 14 entry blocks, not a published "jeeps off at 9.51." Hotline 081 22 33 333 if you are actually stuck. Gopallawa / Old Peradeniya are still the vehicle corridors they named.
Scam Watch: kandy
TukTuk or tour drivers take you to "gem museums" or "government-certified" gem shops. They receive huge commissions (up to 40%) on anything you buy. Prices are inflated 3-10x the actual value.
Men approach tourists near Temple of the Tooth offering to be guides. After the tour, they demand large "donations" or guide fees (5000-10000 LKR).
