I heard there are new rules for booking the blue trains in Sri Lanka Are the tickets still available at the station or fully online now

The latest news is that the online booking system (seatreservation.railway.gov.lk) is fully operational for 1st and reserved 2nd class tickets, and they open exactly 30 days in advance. However, the rule for unreserved 2nd and 3rd class tickets remains the same: you MUST buy them physically at the station counter on the day of travel.

If you buy unreserved tickets at the station, get there an hour early because the queues are huge.
