Vesak is the holiest Buddhist festival. Selling alcohol and meat is strictly banned across the entire country. All liquor stores, bars, clubs, and even hotel minibars are legally required to be locked. Do not try to find an underground party. Respect the culture, eat the free street food, and enjoy the incredible illuminated lanterns. Partying will resume on Monday.

It is actually refreshing to see a whole city prioritize spirituality over partying for a weekend.

Do not even try to bring your own alcohol to the beach. The police will confiscate it.
