Pettah market electronics scams fake SD cards and power banks

Do NOT buy SD cards or memory drives from the street stalls in Pettah. They are almost universally counterfeit Chinese imports that spoof their capacity. A "128GB" card will corrupt after 8GB of footage. If you need electronics, go to a verified shop in Majestic City or Liberty Plaza.
I bought a power bank there that felt heavy, but when it broke I opened it and it was just two AA batteries taped to a metal weight.
Scam Watch: colombo
Driver claims the meter is broken and quotes an inflated flat rate. Common on arrival at airport or railway stations when tourists are tired and disoriented.
Drivers wearing official-looking uniforms claim to be "government-approved" and charge 3-5x normal rates. They may have fake badges or ID cards.
Women with babies approach asking you to buy milk powder at a nearby shop (not cash). The shop is run by accomplices and charges 5-10x normal price.
