For getting around cities and short trips, which ride-hailing app or option works best in 2026?

PickMe is by far the most popular and reliable in Sri Lanka. It has better coverage, more drivers, and works well even in smaller towns. Uber exists but has fewer drivers and can be more expensive or slower to get a ride. Regular taxis and tuk-tuks are still widely used - negotiate the price before getting in, or ask your hotel to call a trusted one. For airport transfers, pre-booked hotel taxis or PickMe are safest. Always share your ride details with someone.

PickMe also has options for cars, vans, and even tuk-tuks in some areas. Very convenient. Download it as soon as you arrive and verify your number.
