I'll be traveling with a young child. Any specific advice for trains?

Book 2nd class reserved seats if possible for more space and guaranteed seating. Bring snacks, water, entertainment, and a small blanket or cushion. The journeys can be long and the trains don't have much in the way of facilities for children. Some families prefer shorter segments rather than very long continuous journeys. Having a flexible attitude helps — trains can be delayed or crowded. Many local families travel with children, so it's very doable, but preparation makes it much smoother. Some guesthouses can help with recommendations for family-friendly train travel.

Shorter segments with breaks are often easier with young children than very long journeys. Pack light and bring what you need for comfort.
