We are driving our rental tuk-tuk through the cultural triangle for two weeks. How do we keep our expensive yoga mats and meditation cushions from getting ruined by the red dust.

The canvas rain flaps on a tuk-tuk will not stop the fine red dust of the dry zone from covering everything in the back seat. Before you leave Colombo or Negombo, go to a hardware store and buy a heavy-duty plastic tarp or thick trash bags. Wrap your yoga gear tightly in them and tie them down. It is the only way to keep them clean on the dirt roads.

If you have a standard Bajaj RE, see if you can squeeze the mats under the back seat. There is a small storage compartment there that stays relatively dust-free compared to the open cabin.
