We are taking a local bus to Arugam Bay Is it true that wild elephants sometimes block the main roads and attack buses

It is very common for elephants to cross the roads near national park buffer zones like Lahugala on the way to Arugam Bay However they do not attack massive CTB buses The bus drivers know exactly how to stop turn off the engine and wait patiently You are completely safe inside a large bus Just enjoy the free safari from your window

Do not stick your arms or cameras out the window if the elephant walks close to the bus
