It held off for the procession and then the sky just opened on the walk back. Not the 8.40 spit on the kerb - this is after, and it is actual rain on the lake road. One thin jacket, kid half-asleep, hotel ten minutes inland. Met said "slight showers." This does not feel slight. Do we eat it or wait.

Met's 21 Aug bulletin was several spells of showers in Kandy; hourly totals were tiny (~0.4 mm) and Foreca had evening/night cloudy + light rain. A lake-road dump after the torches is that spell, not a new warning. The dangerous bit is wet tiles + a leftover crowd, not the millimetres. If you have an eave and the kid is down, sit ten minutes. If you are already shivering, walk inland on the shop side, not the lake wall.
Last night a ten-minute spit, then nothing. We waited under a pharmacy and were glad. Do not open a golf umbrella into the people behind you.
Saturday's Caution heat advisory is Eastern + north, not Kandy. Tonight is the shower belt. No need to abort the weekend.
