Renting e-bikes or electric scooters in Sri Lanka - available and practical?
I'm interested in electric options for shorter distances. Are e-bikes or e-scooters available to rent?

Electric scooters and e-bikes are becoming more available, especially in tourist areas like Galle, Weligama, and around Sigiriya. Some rental places now offer them. They're great for shorter distances and flat areas, quieter and cheaper to run. However, battery range, charging infrastructure, and hill performance can be limitations. They're still relatively new so check reviews of the specific rental company and test the bike first. Traditional petrol scooters are still more common and reliable for longer or hillier routes.
I saw some e-scooters in Galle Fort area. Looked convenient for short hops but I didn't try one. Might be good for relaxed exploration.
