Private ER: Asiri Central (that Colombo cluster), Nawaloka (Colombo 2), Lanka Hospitals (Colombo 5). Take passport, insurance PDF, a card, and some cash. They will register you, run bloods if they suspect dengue (platelets), and they are used to foreigners. Call the insurer first if you can stay conscious enough. Night reception takes cards at the big three; keep a cash float for pharmacy.
110 is accident/fire ambulance language; for a taxi, PickMe to the ER door is what people actually do if they can sit up.
Scam Watch: colombo
Driver claims the meter is broken and quotes an inflated flat rate. Common on arrival at airport or railway stations when tourists are tired and disoriented.
Drivers wearing official-looking uniforms claim to be "government-approved" and charge 3-5x normal rates. They may have fake badges or ID cards.
Women with babies approach asking you to buy milk powder at a nearby shop (not cash). The shop is run by accomplices and charges 5-10x normal price.
