Saturday via Avissawella toward Ratnapura - which junctions are the amber ones, not a generic landslide panic
Not asking if Colombo-Kandy is open, already know that thread. We need the A4 / Avissawella-Ratnapura-Haputale line Saturday. NBRO has been naming Dehiowita, Yatiyantota, Deraniyagala, Kuruwita, Imbulpe. Which of those do we actually drive through and which do we treat as "do not be clever".

The main A1 Colombo-Kandy is usually not those names. The ugly ones sit on the Avissawella-Ratnapura A4 and the estate drops: Dehiowita, Deraniyagala, Yatiyantota, then Kuruwita / Ehaliyagoda into Ratnapura, Imbulpe toward Balangoda / Haputale. I stay on the main A4 in daylight after rain. I do not "know a tea-estate shortcut" through Deraniyagala or Yatiyantota on an amber day. Check nbro.gov.lk Saturday morning.
We did Avissawella-Ratnapura Thursday, wet, one dug slope, no closure. Slow is the mood.
Scam Watch: colombo
Driver claims the meter is broken and quotes an inflated flat rate. Common on arrival at airport or railway stations when tourists are tired and disoriented.
Drivers wearing official-looking uniforms claim to be "government-approved" and charge 3-5x normal rates. They may have fake badges or ID cards.
Women with babies approach asking you to buy milk powder at a nearby shop (not cash). The shop is run by accomplices and charges 5-10x normal price.
