Small Buddha on my calf - will Dambulla or Mihintale actually turn me away or just make me cover it

Tattoo is old, respectful I thought, now I am reading temple stories from Myanmar and Thailand. We have Dambulla the next day and the Tooth already done. Do I wear long trousers the whole week. Is a shoulder-piece of a stupa also a problem.

Sri Lanka is usually "cover it", not a dramatic refusal, especially a small calf piece under trousers. A big Buddha on the shin in shorts at a sacred terrace can get you a stare or a request to cover. Do that without a debate. Do not pose with a statue. Tooth / Dambulla / Mihintale all want shoulders and knees covered anyway.

I wore linen trousers every temple day. Nobody asked to see anything. Easy.
