Superline to Galle from Makumbura - do we really have to go to Kottawa or can we still board in Pettah with backpacks
Two of us, one big pack each. People said the AC highway bus is 90 minutes and the Pettah coastal is 4 hours of stopping. Is Makumbura a proper station we can PickMe to. Tickets on the bus or an app. Sunday morning.

Highway coaches start at Makumbura MMC (Kottawa), not the old Pettah coastal stand. PickMe/Uber to Makumbura, buy at the counter or from the conductor, AC bus, 1.5-2 hours, drop Galle town stand, tuk into the Fort. Pettah / Route 2 is the scenic cheap crawl - only if you want the sea and have all day.
7.40am Makumbura, seated, bags in the bay, Galle before 10. Fine. Keep a small note for the ticket.
Scam Watch: colombo
Driver claims the meter is broken and quotes an inflated flat rate. Common on arrival at airport or railway stations when tourists are tired and disoriented.
Drivers wearing official-looking uniforms claim to be "government-approved" and charge 3-5x normal rates. They may have fake badges or ID cards.
Women with babies approach asking you to buy milk powder at a nearby shop (not cash). The shop is run by accomplices and charges 5-10x normal price.
