"Temple closed, come this way" guy at Sigiriya - still a thing?
First day in the triangle and a very friendly man said the main ticket office was closed and his cousin had a jeep plus a gem exhibition. We walked away. What else is in season?

Greatest hits still live. Closed-entrance redirect at Sigiriya or the Tooth Relic toward a commission shop. Gem / "government store". "Train sold out, take my van" at Fort or Kandy - sometimes the through train really is dead after Ditwah, which makes this one half-true, so verify on the railway site. Inflated street tuk. Fake ETA websites. If a price is in USD and they will not write it, walk.
Someone at Colombo Fort tried to sell us a USD 40 "reserved observation car" to Ella. Given the line is broken, that was extra bold.
Ticket office at Sigiriya is not secretly closed on a Tuesday morning. You can see the counter.
