Massive scam! You do not go whale watching from the beach in Arugam Bay. The deep-water drop-off required for blue whales is up north in Trincomalee. The tuk-tuk driver is just trying to extort you for a very long joyride to a random beach where you will absolutely not see any whales.

We heard this one too. Tell him no thanks. Book official boat tours in Trincomalee instead.

Tuktuk drivers on the east coast will promise anything for a long fare. Stick to reputable tour companies.
