We are in Colombo for Vesak weekend Do tourists absolutely need to wear pure white clothing to visit the temples

While it is not legally mandatory for tourists wearing white during Vesak is highly recommended It is a sign of immense respect purity and mourning for the Buddha During this holy weekend you will see almost all locals dressed entirely in white If you wear brightly colored tourist clothes you will stand out and might be denied entry to inner shrines
