We are visiting in March. We want to do a whale watching tour, but our 3-year-old gets seasick. Which ocean is calmer?

In March, Mirissa is the place to be for whales. However, the Indian Ocean swells off the south coast can be very rolling and cause severe seasickness, even on calm days. I would highly advise against taking a 3-year-old on a 4-hour whale boat in Mirissa.

I did Mirissa in March. Half the adults on the boat were vomiting over the side. Do not take a toddler.

Trincomalee is calmer, but their whale season doesn't really peak until June-August. Mirissa in March is a rough ride.

Okay, we are definitely skipping the whale watching then. Not worth torturing the little one! Thanks.
