The best time to visit Sri Lanka depends entirely on which coast you plan to visit. If you are visiting the popular south and west coasts, along with the central hill country, the absolute best time is from December to March. During these months, the weather is dry, sunny, and the ocean is calm. If you plan to visit the east coast for surfing in places like Arugam Bay, the best weather is from May to September. Sri Lanka is a year round destination if you follow the dry seasons across the island.
April is also a fantastic month to visit. It is considered a shoulder season month. The weather is generally hot and sunny across the whole island before the main monsoon arrives in May. Plus, you get to experience the Sri Lankan New Year celebrations in mid April.
