What is the dress code for Colombo night clubs.
3 Answers from travellers
Yes the upscale night clubs in Colombo enforce a surprisingly strict dress code compared to the relaxed beach towns down south. Men are generally required to wear closed toe shoes long trousers and collared shirts.
If you show up to venues like Rhythm and Blues or Kiti wearing rubber flip flops beach shorts or athletic tank tops the bouncers will absolutely refuse you entry at the door.
Women have much more flexibility but smart casual dresses and nice sandals or heels are highly recommended to blend in with the fashionable local crowd.
Scam Watch: colombo
Driver claims the meter is broken and quotes an inflated flat rate. Common on arrival at airport or railway stations when tourists are tired and disoriented.
Drivers wearing official-looking uniforms claim to be "government-approved" and charge 3-5x normal rates. They may have fake badges or ID cards.
Women with babies approach asking you to buy milk powder at a nearby shop (not cash). The shop is run by accomplices and charges 5-10x normal price.
