The official State Vesak Festival will be observed on May 30, 2026. While May 1 is a Full Moon Poya Day, the religious and astrological alignment for the birth and enlightenment celebrations is set for later in the month. This is when the largest thoranas and lantern competition in Colombo will be active. Target the end of May for the best light displays.
