Where can I see the best Vesak displays in Colombo next month?

The area around Gangarama Temple and the Beira Lake is the epicenter of Vesak celebrations in Colombo. You will see massive floating lanterns and intricate thoranas depicting the life of the Buddha. The Bauddhaloka Mawatha stretch is also famous for its long rows of beautiful handmade lanterns. Vesak 2026 falls on May 1, so the city will be vibrant with light and charity food stalls called dansalas during that week.
