I need mobile data the moment I land. Should I grab a SIM card right at Bandaranaike airport or wait until I reach my hotel for better deals.

Dialog generally has the best coverage across the entire country including the remote hill country and northern regions. Mobitel is slightly cheaper but coverage can be patchy in rural safari areas. Always bring your physical passport for SIM registration as a digital copy is not accepted.
