For Trincomalee beaches, Nilaveli is generally considered superior if you want a quiet, pristine atmosphere. The sand is white and the water is incredibly clear, making it perfect for families.

Uppuveli is closer to town and has a busier backpacker and bar scene. It is much better if you want nightlife and more restaurant options within walking distance.
