If you rent from a professional agency for a long term period, routine maintenance like oil changes and greasing are completely their responsibility. They will advise you to visit a local garage after a certain number of kilometers.

You are only financially responsible for the petrol you use and any physical damage you cause to the vehicle through negligence.
