Wrecked after tonight - Saturday morning Tooth at 5.30 or Peradeniya when the gates open
9.20 on the bed we have not used yet. We fly Sunday. We can do one Saturday morning thing before we have to think about the 6.28 Kumbal again. Temple of the Tooth opens 5.30. Peradeniya gardens say 7.30. Partner wants "the relic we barely saw." I want trees and no drums. Which one is the less stupid hangover plan.

If the relic is the hole in the night, do the Maligawa morning theva - official hours 5.30 AM-8.00 PM, early service 5.30-7.00, next 9.30-11.00. Buy the ticket from the machine (foreigner LKR 3,000 other countries / LKR 2,500 SAARC, Thailand, Myanmar). Cover knees and shoulders. Footwear at the booths. Saturday is still Perahera week - the grid will be tired, not empty, but 6am is a different city from 9pm.
Royal Botanic Gardens, Peradeniya: official 7.30 AM-6.00 PM, ticketing 7.30-5.00, 365 days, ~5.5 km west on the Colombo / Gopallawa side. Official foreign adult LKR 3,540. Café 8.00-5.00. Saturday's Caution heat advisory is east and north, not this garden. If the group is done with drums, this is the quieter morning and it sits on the road you may already use to leave town.
We did Tooth at 6 after Wednesday's Kumbal and were in bed by 9. Gardens can wait for a day you are not standing again at 5 for another Kumbal. If you skip Saturday night, gardens then a nap is the human schedule.
Scam Watch: kandy
TukTuk or tour drivers take you to "gem museums" or "government-certified" gem shops. They receive huge commissions (up to 40%) on anything you buy. Prices are inflated 3-10x the actual value.
Men approach tourists near Temple of the Tooth offering to be guides. After the tour, they demand large "donations" or guide fees (5000-10000 LKR).
