Companion to the 3am clock, different fork. Colombo Saturday 12-3am is light rain 0.1-0.3 mm on the same 22.27 stamp, still 28 degrees. Partner wants the 3.00 start anyway with a jacket on the A1. Colombo Saturday 1-3am 0.2-0.3 mm / 16-20% / 28°C / gusts ~29. That is a wet windscreen, not a washout. The danger is the driver, not the millimetres. 1,749. A 05:00 start still makes 6:28 if the pin is real and the road is ordinary - I cannot swear 22 Aug times. Jacket for the van AC, not because 0.2 mm is a storm.
If the driver has not slept, there is no 3am. Pay listing price for Saturday night in Kandy before you roll. No invented fare.
We waited until 5. Dry enough, Kandy by late morning, nap, 6.28. The 3am people looked grey. No invented room rate.

Driver claims the meter is broken and quotes an inflated flat rate. Common on arrival at airport or railway stations when tourists are tired and disoriented.
Drivers wearing official-looking uniforms claim to be "government-approved" and charge 3-5x normal rates. They may have fake badges or ID cards.
Women with babies approach asking you to buy milk powder at a nearby shop (not cash). The shop is run by accomplices and charges 5-10x normal price.
