Add Jaffna after Trinco or is that a masochist move in August?

5 extra days. Keep hearing Jaffna is the real Sri Lanka. August heat + long road. Is the public bus from Trinco sane? What do we even do - temples, islands, crab?

August in Jaffna is hot and dry, not wet. Nallur, the library, the fort, Kayts/Delft if the boat runs, Jaffna crab and kool. Dress extra modest around kovils. Public buses exist. AC private buses or a driver are kinder after Trinco. Fuel QR is a driver problem, not yours. Stay on the tourist map, do not wander into marked scrub.

Hottest place we went. Best food. Almost no other Europeans in our guesthouse. Go if you like culture more than a pool.
