Hiriketiya has a very cozy horseshoe bay vibe which is great for stays but it gets very crowded. Ahangama has more variety in reef breaks and is much better for intermediate surfers who want space.

I stayed in Hiriketiya last week and the social scene is top notch though Ahangama felt a bit more spread out.

Both are great but Ahangama has more secret spots if you drive a bit.
