Is Yala fully open for safaris or are the dirt tracks still completely washed out.

Yala National Park is completely fully accessible and operating normally again. The severe flooding from the December cyclone forced the temporary closure of several main safari tracks near the rivers, but the intense tropical sun quickly dried out the dirt roads.

Jeep safaris are running exactly as they were before the storm. The park management has successfully cleared the fallen trees and repaired the muddy ruts.

In fact, the heavy rains have made the park incredibly lush and green, and the replenished waterholes are currently attracting massive numbers of elephants and leopards out into the open, making it a brilliant time to visit.
