Do we still need to wear thick leech socks if it has not rained recently.

Leeches are significantly less common during the dry season, but they are never completely gone in the damp tea estates. It is always best to wear thick leech socks as a simple, effective precaution.

Applying Siddhalepa herbal balm or strong DEET repellent to your shoes and ankles is a great local trick to keep them away while hiking the Pekoe Trail.

If you hike early in the morning when the dew is still heavy on the grass, you will definitely encounter some leeches even if it has not rained in a week.
