I heard there are massive traffic jams of jeeps inside the park. Is this true.

Yes, unfortunately, it is entirely true. Yala National Park, specifically Block 1, suffers from intense jeep congestion. The moment a tracker spots a leopard and radios it in, dozens of jeeps rush aggressively to the exact location, causing massive dust clouds and traffic jams on the narrow dirt tracks.

If you hate crowds, you must explicitly ask your driver to avoid the main leopard rush and focus on quieter areas of the park to observe elephants and bears, or book your safari in Kumana or Wilpattu instead, which are infinitely more peaceful.
