8.45 in Jaffna. Kovil is loud, evening ritual is happening, it is not the chariot, we already know that. Daily Mirror had a Jaffna temple-festival lighting headline this afternoon that has everyone talking about their eyes. Sunday is 1st Randoli in Kandy at 6.44. We have two festival tickets in one island and one week. Do we keep Nallur through next week or run south tomorrow.

Nallur is a 25-day festival (flag 17 Aug, running into mid-September). Tonight is a normal evening ritual night, not Ther. The chariot is early September - published tables disagree 9 vs 11 Sep, so do not book a flight around a blog. If Nallur is why you came north, staying is rational. If you wanted one big visual, Kandy's first Randoli Sunday 6.44 is the nearer spectacle, and it is a long southbound from here.

Randoli week (23-27) is the one that matches the postcards. You can have Nallur evenings now or Kandy nights; doing both as a panic overnight is how you see neither properly. Saturday heat advisory covers Jaffna daytime - plan the drive for hours that are not noon.
