Temple of the Tooth this morning - is the queue Perahera-crazy or can we still do the 9.30 puja

We are in Kandy through Thursday. Official site says 5.30am-8pm, pujas 5.30 / 9.30 / 6.30. Evening puja is the same time the procession is forming. Do we even try the temple this week or is it a 2 hour cattle line. Not asking the ticket price, already know that one.

Go at the 9:30 morning service on a Kumbal day. Evening 6:30 this week is the same hour the streets are closing and the temple is in procession mode - you will queue, you will be screened, you may not love it. Wednesday 9:30 is Nanumura (the herbal bathing) if you want the extra ritual. Shoes and bags at the foreigner booth, modest clothes, no plastic offering bags. Tickets are from the machines inside - not from a helper on the pavement.

Thursday 10am we were inside in about 25 minutes. Last night we walked past at 5:45 and turned around. Morning is the move.

All bags go through the scanner. Do not bring a drone, a big tripod, or a picnic. The inner shrine is not a photo pit.

Doing 9:30 tomorrow, skipping the evening one. Thanks.
