I am a huge wildlife fan and really want to see the elusive Slender Loris. Where is the best guaranteed spot for a night walking safari?

The absolute best place is the Popham's Arboretum in Dambulla. They conduct specialized, ethical night walks with trained naturalists. Because the Loris population there is protected and monitored, your chances of seeing one are very high (around 80%).

Sigiriya also has some local guides who do night walks around the base of Pidurangala rock. We saw Civet cats, owls, and one Loris high in the canopy.

Make sure to wear long pants and leech socks! Walking through the jungle at night means a lot of bugs.

We did Popham's! We saw two Lorises within an hour. They only use red-light flashlights so it doesn't hurt the animals' giant sensitive eyes.

Popham's Arboretum sounds perfect, especially with the red-light rule. I will book a tour there.
