The absolute best time to see leopards in Yala is during the peak dry season, which runs from June to early September. Because water sources in the jungle dry up, the animals, including leopards, are forced to gather around the few remaining permanent waterholes.

During this period, the dense undergrowth also dies back significantly, drastically increasing visibility through the forest. Remember that Yala typically closes for a month around September for maintenance, so August is usually the prime spotting month.
