Bundala instead of another muddy Yala - is it actually a bird park this month or just a cheaper jeep

We already did Udawalawe. Yala in the rain did not appeal. Bundala is on the way to the east. August blogs mention flamingos in winter, not now. What do you actually see in late August and is the ticket a full national-park hit.

Bundala is a Ramsar wetland. August is not flamingo-peak (that is the northern-winter window). You still get waders, crocodiles, maybe elephants on the edges, far fewer jeeps than Yala Block 1. Good if you like birds and quiet. Wrong if you need a leopard story. Morning jeep.

Half-day, lots of crocodiles, a couple of painted storks, no flamingo. Fine palate cleanser.

Do not swim. Crocodiles are not decorative.
