I heard there is a major religious walk from Anuradhapura to Colombo next week. Is it open to foreigners and what is the route.

Yes, the Walk for Peace is open to everyone and will run from April 21 to 28, 2026. A delegation of monks will carry a Bodhi sapling from the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura. The procession will move through major towns toward Colombo. It is a fantastic way to witness authentic Buddhist devotion. If you join, please dress modestly in white clothing and carry plenty of water as the heat is intense this month.
