Can you easily buy tampons outside of Colombo?
I am traveling for a month. Should I pack enough tampons for the whole trip, or can I easily find them in supermarkets in places like Ella or Mirissa?

PACK THEM! Pads are widely available in every village pharmacy, but tampons are incredibly rare. You might find them in a large "Keells" or "Arpico" supermarket in a major city, but you will not find them in small towns like Ella or rural beach villages.
Pharmacies here mostly stock sanitary napkins because culturally, tampons are rarely used by local women. Big pharmacies in Colombo (like Healthguard) carry them, but prices are high.
Oh wow, thank you for the warning. I will dedicate a packing cube to them.
My girlfriend switched to a menstrual cup for our backpacking trip here, said it was the best decision ever for traveling in Asia.
I made this mistake. Had to take a 45-minute tuk-tuk ride from the beach to a massive hypermarket in Galle just to find one box of O.B. tampons. Bring your own supply.
