Confirmed which Knuckles and Sinharaja trails are open after Cyclone Ditwah repairs

Current Forest Department status as of last week. KNUCKLES: Mini-Worlds-End trail (open), Corbetts Gap to Meemure (open, one re-routed section near a slip), Dothalugala (open), Knuckles Peak summit route (open but guide-only), the Riverston-Pitawala Pathana loop (open). Closed/restricted: one back-country route from Thangappuwa to Meemure remained closed for trail rebuilding last I checked, confirm at the Forest office on the day. SINHARAJA: Kudawa entrance trails (Mulawella, Sinhagala, Waturawa) all open; Pitadeniya and Deniyaya entrances all open; the Morningside section (cloud-forest, eastern slope) had some landslide repair but the standard ranger-led routes are running. Always check current status with the Forest Department office at the entrance the morning of your trek, conditions change after heavy rain. May to August is wet and leech-heavy in both ranges.
Concrete enough, thank you. Booking a Forest Dept guide and basing in Meemure. Dank je.
A registered guide is mandatory for both ranges, no exceptions. The good operators have updated route knowledge post-cyclone and will swap to an open trail if needed without losing the day.
Did Corbetts Gap to Meemure with the re-route last month. Re-routed section was actually nicer scenery than the original. Trust the rangers calls.
Stay in Meemure (homestays in the valley) as your base for Knuckles; saves you a 90-minute drive in/out each morning and the village evening is part of the experience.
